In addition to the exchange of letters and stationery, business communication also covers e-mail correspondence in particular. At Siedle both areas are subject to common principles: the design is well-considered and uniform.

Siedle also provides standards and guidelines for printed stylesheets that require further completion by hand to enable a consistent design typical of Siedle.

Stationery

The visual appearance of the business letters that leave the building is particularly important. Suitable stylesheets have been developed to ensure a uniform formatting of letterhead paper.

Standard version

Forms

Even forms and documents that were not designed by the design department must have a uniform and appealing appearance. Corresponding guidelines have been developed as part of the Siedle design concept.

Form header

The basis for each form is a uniform form header bearing the logo. The Siedle logo is imported as an Image and can only be resized proportionally. If a logo is to be embedded in a document, it must be transformed proportionally as a complete image until the desired size is achieved.

Position of the logo (upper edge)

6 mm from top edge of sheet
6 mm from right edge of sheet
Width of the logo = 43 mm
Word stylesheets are provided available by the IT
department.
Font: Frutiger LT Com

Note

If problems arise complying with the Siedle guidelines when working on a system, please contact the IT department.

3 tables: 8 and 11 points Light and
Bold line spacing “Exactly” 10 and 13 points, respectively

Text area

With forms, it makes sense to use the entire sheet width for writing purposes.

Line spacing

Line spacing is set to “Exactly” (Format Paragraph) if no subsequent handwritten entries are made. If subsequent entries are made, a line spacing of 18 points must be observed.

Text formatting

Distinctions

Headings are generally written in bold.
In addition, individual words or even entire text sections can be emphasized

  1. by bold lettering
  2. by prefixing with a dash.

Example:

By prefixing a marker line, an entire text section
or only one word can be emphasized.
The following line of text will then either begin
again on the left at the stop or can also be
indented, if absolutely necessary.

Tables

Tables provide a clear overview of data and information. In order to make them easy to read, they must also be given a clear and appealing form (in accordance with our CD guidelines).

Lines

The line starts left-justified under the text and continues to the margin of the text area. Line thickness 0.25 points

Line spacing

The distance between two lines corresponds to 18 points. This provides sufficient space for a handwritten entry.

Content and structure

1 Address field

  • E-mail address of the recipient(s)

2 Subject line

  • A subject that is as short and clearly formulated as possible helps recipients to sort the communication and to search in their inbox at a later date.

3 Salutation

  • Depending on how “close” the relation is to the recipient, the salutation of “Dear Mr Smith” is recommended. Depending on the relationship in question, first names can also be used (“Dear John”). A salutation in the German polite form will be dispensed with in this case.
  • Close with a comma

4 Body

  • One blank line after salutation, the first sentence begins with a lower-case letter [in German, and upper-case letter in English]
  • Paragraphs are separated from each other by a blank line.
  • No indentation is made at the start of a paragraph
  • There are no line breaks within a paragraph, as this may lead to a confusing display – depending on the browser used.

5 Complimentary close and signature

  • “Yours sincerely,”
  • One blank line
  • First name and surname of the signatory
  • In the line below, the function (not the department)
  • Signature: see next chapter
  • Privacy policy and information obligation will be added automatically

6 Attachment

  • Attachments are placed at the end of the email, one line below the signature completion.
